beach links

We have families return each year to rent our beach house, so book your time early as we fill up our weekly times quickly.

Fort Myers Beach runs the length of Estero Island with beautiful white sand beaches for strolling, sunning, swimming, and surf fishing off the beach. Famous for its colorful and exotic beach shells that wash up daily, shell collecting has become a great beach past time. Shopping, fine dining, sport fishing, boat rentals, fishing pier, beach fishing, swimming on the beach, skim boarding on the beach, banking services, and a fine library are just a few of the many things enjoyed at the beach.

The beach located on the west coast of florida is also home to a large shrimp fishing fleet. One of the many festivals enjoyed annually is the Shrimp Festival that begins with the blessing of the fleet. And many other nearby beach attractions such as The Fort Myers Beach Pier Area, Lover's Key State Park, Island Boat Rentals, Edison's Home and the Shell Factory provide continual entertainment.

Weather:
You can almost always tip your hat to the end of another perfect day in Florida. The climate has always been Florida's most important natural resources, which is reflected in its official nickname, the Sunshine State.

Summers throughout the state are long, warm, and fairly humid. Winters are mild with periodic invasions of cool to occasionally cold air. Coastal areas in all sections of Florida average slightly warmer temperatures in winter and cooler ones in summer.

The primary factors affecting the state's climate are latitude and numerous inland lakes. Proximity to the currents of the Atlantic Ocean and the Gulf of Mexico also plays an important role.

South Florida's temperate climate and desirable amount of yearly rainfall provide a year full of joy for both residents and tourists. The winters in South Florida are tolerable and desired by many. In South Florida, the boots and scarves are unnecessary when the average winter season temperature is about 67 degrees.

The average Florida Spring temperature stands in the mid 70s. During the Summer time, with low in the upper 70s, city boardwalks start to fill up early with walkers and breakfast seekers getting ready for the day's gorgeous weather. The season averages 83 degrees with daily highs in the 90s. With a few rainy days here and there, the Sunshine State holds true to its name, providing excellent weather for the people who choose to spend their time here in sunny South Florida.

Lovers Key State Park

For years, Lovers Key was accessible only by boat and it was said that only lovers traveled to the island to enjoy its remote and solitary beach. Today, it is one of four barrier islands that make up this state park. A haven for wildlife, the islands and their waters are home to West Indian manatees, bottlenose dolphins, roseate spoonbills, marsh rabbits, and bald eagles.

The two mile long beach is accessible by boardwalk or tram and is popular for shelling, swimming, picnicking, and sunbathing. Black Island has over five miles of multi use trails for hiking and bicycling. Anglers and boaters can launch their vessels from the park's boat ramp. The park's concession offers boat and fishing tours, as well as bicycle, canoe, and kayak rentals. For tour reservations, call (239)765-7788.

Mound Key State Park

Northeast of the southern tip of Fort Myers Beach, this island was constructed from shells by Calusa Indians more than 1,000 years ago. A popular site for amateur and professional archaeologists, with research conducted by the University of Florida. Tours conducted by qualified historian.

Saltwater fishing is always a popular pastime in the bay. There are several spots along the river for fishing. The Estero River is brackish with Snook, Mullet, Redfish, and other popular game fish. Freshwater fishing is also popular in the river. Freshwater Bass can be found as you paddle inland away from the Gulf.

The Estero Bay is located about 3 miles by canoe down the river. It offers abundant saltwater fishing and wildlife viewing opportunities. The bay is home to Bottlenose Dolphins, Manatees, and several game fish.
